Results Groups discussed the working plan for 2017 within the UN Partnership Framework for Development for 2016-2020.

Ashgabat. 19 April 2017 – Members of five joint Results Groups formed under Turkmenistan-United Nations Partnership Framework for Development 2016-2020 (PFD), have finalised the discussion of the Monitoring and Evaluation Plans (M&E Plan) and developed a Monitoring and Evaluation Calendars up to 2020 during the first round of meetings from April 4-18, 2017.

The experts from line ministries and UN discussed missing information on indictors for measuring progress on PFD and finalisation of M&E Plans. The unified M&E calendar till 2020 was discussed and developed.

It was agreed the next Result Group meetings will be held in the second half of the current year to report on the progress for the year 2016 and a half of 2017. Following the results of the second meeting, a Country Results Report will be prepared.

In addition, at the end of the year a meeting of the National Steering and Coordinating Committee at the level of deputy ministers is planned, where the main changes in the PFD indicators and progress reports will be presented.

The participants of the group were informed on the upcoming M & E capacity building mission planned for November 2017. This workshop will focus on capacity building in the development of indicators and interim results.

    Ashgabat, 15 April 2017 - Today the Government of Turkmenistan and the UN Agencies came together to launch the National Programme and Plan of Action on the realization of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control for the period of 2017-2021. Representatives of national ministries, the Parliament, public organizations, and media led by the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry, as well as the UN Country Team highly acknowledged that the National Programme and Plan of Action demonstrate practical application of the political will and leadership of the country to realize tobacco control measures. The country has taken comprehensive pathway towards enhancement of the national public health by reducing tobacco prevalence of smoking among the adult population to the lowest global rate of 8 %. The country aims to become the first tobacco-free country in the European Region with the smoking rate at 5% or less by 2025.

    Ashgabat. April 12, 2017. Establishing a monitoring and evaluation framework for the National Action Plan (NAP) on Gender Equality in Turkmenistan for 2015-2020 was the focus of the round-table, organized by the National Institute of Democracy and Human Rights under the President of Turkmenistan and UNFPA, United Nations Population Fund. The Working Group of the Interministerial Commission on the implementation of the international obligations of Turkmenistan in the area of human rights, with participation of UNFPA, UN Women, UNDP, met to agree on the framework of the monitoring tool to be used to track the progress of the National Action Plan.
