SDG Youth Ambassadors Contest Launched

24 October 2018, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. UN in Turkmenistan and the National SDG Center have kicked off SDG Youth Ambassadors Contest at UN House. The participants including the representatives of universities, NGOs, mass media and youth were introduced to the concept of the contest and its objectives.

Ms. Elena Panova, the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan noted the importance of the ongoing competition, “The youth of Turkmenistan is the main driver of change, and the new Sustainable Development Agenda is an excellent platform that allows them to use their limitless possibilities to transform the surrounding reality to build a better of the world."

 

“The world wants to hear the voices of 1,8 billion young people on the matters affecting their lives” noted Ms. Shahin Nilofer, Representative of UNICEF in Turkmenistan.

The SDG Youth Ambassadors competition is aimed at mobilizing young people of Turkmenistan, whose activities can contribute to the effective achievement of Agenda 2030. The contest is held within the SDGs month, among other activities are training courses on SDGs, seminars, student debates, the UN model, etc.
