United Nations and youth from Japan exchanged their experience on the Sustainable Development Goals

Ashgabat, March 6, 2018.  UN Agencies hold a discussion on the implementation of SDGs with a team of Japanese students and academia from the University of Tokyo. The welcome visit was aimed to exchange the knowledge and discuss the progressive role of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have on both Turkmenistan and Japan.

The participants were introduced to the work of UN Country Team, agencies’ mandates, main achievements and further objectives. Participants were involved to in-depth discussions on the activities that UN and the Government of Turkmenistan are being held within the Partnership Framework for Development for the period of 2016-2020.  

It became a tradition for international students to visit UN House and to get acquainted with the culture and work of the United Nations in Turkmenistan.

    Ashgabat. 3 April 2018 – Members of five joint Results Groups formed under Turkmenistan-United Nations Partnership Framework for Development 2016-2020 (PFD), have finalized the discussion of the Results for 2016-2017, pending issues, Joint Work Plans for 2018 and Monitoring and Evaluation Calendars during the first round of meetings from March 13 to April 03, 2018.

Turkmenistan shared its experience of implementing the Agenda 2030 at the 2018 edition of the Istanbul Development Dialogues organized by the United Nations Development Programme in Turkey at the UNDP Istanbul Regional Hub. This year’s event discussed the reality of global development and brought more than 80 participants among which senior policy-makers, business leaders, civil society and experts, who discussed what works and what doesn’t for a successful path to 2030.

    Ashgabat, Mar 2, 2018: The development of new medicines for treatment tuberculosis (TB) has been making great progress over the past ten years. The World Health Organization has recommended new medications: Bedaquiline and Delamanid for the treatment of resistant tuberculosis. Multiple drug resistance (MDR-TB) is a form of tuberculosis in which bacteria become resistant to two main first-line drugs – isoniazid and rifampicin. Extensively drug resistance (XDR-TB) is a heavier form of tuberculosis when bacteria become resistant to drugs in both the first and second lines.
