9 August 2018, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan – Young people with diverse backgrounds who joined their hands during the Leadership Academy and Innovation Lab this week presented the social innovation projects on health, environment, inclusiveness, youth participation and education. This was the pilot Leadership Academy and Innovation Lab in the capital and this year the project will be held in all five velayats with focus on rural girls.
27 July 2018, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. UN and national partners met to discuss the progress SDG work in Turkmenistan. The members of Result Group 1 (RG 1) formed within the Partnership Framework for Development (PFD), agreed between the Government of Turkmenistan and the United Nations until 2020, discussed the mechanisms of SDG monitoring and related issues.
21 July 2018, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan – Eight member states of Central Asia and Caucasus supported by UNICEF, WHO, FAO and WFP committed to strengthen capacity and governance in improving the nutrition and food security status of the most vulnerable in the region today at the official launch of the Regional Nutrition Capacity Development and Partnership Platform.
During the week from 16 to 20 July, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) partnered with national counterparts in Turkmenistan to mark the World Day against Trafficking in Persons.
In partnership with the National Institute for Democracy and Human Rights under the President of Turkmenistan, UNODC facilitated an interactive lecture for students on the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime and its Trafficking in Persons Protocol.
