As part of the UNAIDS campaign to end HIV/AIDS as a public health threat by 2030, the UN Health group in Ashgabat has held an event on World Aids Day to raise awareness of the impact HIV/AIDS is having worldwide. This important event also commemorated the many millions of people who have died from the illness.

Ashgabat, December 1, 2017: The United Nations Development Program (UNDP), together with the Working Group of the Interdepartmental Commission on Human Rights, held a seminar on the development of a monitoring and evaluation system for the implementation of the National Human Rights Action Plans of Turkmenistan (NHRAP). The seminar was carried out as part of a joint UNDP project with the National Institute for Democracy and Human Rights under the President of Turkmenistan. The seminar was titled "Assisting in the implementation of the National Action Plan for Human Rights for 2016-2020".
Ashgabat. December 11, 2017. The United Nations and the Government of Turkmenistan have celebrated the joint event to mark the International day of Neutrality and 10th anniversary of the Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia (UNRCCA). A series of activities including the Exhibition and the international conferences "Policy of Neutrality and Preventive Diplomacy in International Relations: the Experience of Turkmenistan and its Importance" as well as "UNRACCA: 10 Years of Cooperation with Central Asia for Peace and Prosperity in the Region" were held in the frame of the celebrations.
